Three things set this light apart –
1) The “Quick Align” magnet system that allows you to create rows of these fixtures and keep them aligned.
Don’t you hate when you set up a row of LED strips to light a backdrop or drape? It’s always a pain because they all get tilted slightly differently and it looks like a crashing train. Enter the magnetic alignment system – this keeps your lights perfectly aligned with little effort. And that’s what sets this light apart from the competition.
2) The “splash guard” is a single metal barndoor to keep stray light from getting on to your stage or other objects. It’s a nice added feature that folds away when not in use. It’s only available on one side, and you can’t switch the side, so be careful when mounting the light.
3) It has power and data “whips” instead of jacks – allowing you to chain together multiple fixtures without needing DMX cables or power cables. The quality on these is good, as long as you don’t abuse them, I anticipate they’ll last a long time.
Other than that, it’s a good, inexpensive option for lighting drapes, walls, or even for backlight. Is it going to have the light quality of a $1000 fixture? No, but it costs much less than that, and it performs well and has good, pixelated control (2 LED’s per pixel for 6 zones of control).
